“Old Friends”
This CD was inspired by many old friends, but one in particular; the one who it is dedicated to. Her name is Leona Mae Allen; also known as Lee. She was a best friend to Fernand and she was Linda’s mother. She passed away on August 28, 1999. The song, “This Friend I Have Known” was written in honor of Leona.
Throughout our travels, we have come to know many elderly friends. Linda became a licensed LNA in 1970; working in geriatrics. Fernand sings in the local nursing homes on a monthly basis. Many of the songs on this CD were inspired by the friends we have come to know and love while in their last years. “Memory Lane” was written for our good friends, Earle & Jeanne Perkins, who have endured the wretched Alzheimer disease while clinging to their Lord and to each other.
The song, “Two of a Kind” was written by Fernand, for his aging parents; who still live in their own home. Like so many in this world; they struggle to hold on; hoping for a better time to come.
“I Still Have a Voice” is a song that speaks for some of the lonely ones that feel discarded and abandoned.
“He’ll Come to You” and “Until He Comes” are two songs that were written by Fernand as encouraging messages to all who believe that, soon, Jesus is coming back for His children.
“He Had a Reason” is a song that was written for two good friends of ours that struggled with cancer.
“Selfless Love” was a song that Fernand wrote about Linda. “Old Friends” was
a poem that Linda wrote for Fernand, on his birthday, over 20 years ago. While looking through his bible one day, he found a piece of paper with the poem written on it. He took his guitar and came up with a melody for it and the song, “Old Friends” was born.
“Some of God’s People” was written by Linda while thinking of all the people that are looked down upon, who don’t profess to be Christians, but have hearts as pure as gold. Also; others who have made some terrible choices and yet have asked for His forgiveness, and are made new, but still looked down upon by their neighbors.
“I Have Been” was written by Linda about her life.
“At the End of the Road” was written by Fernand after he and Linda visited Linda’s Daughter, Karen, and her husband, Thom, at their home in upper New York State.
